Join South Dallas faith communities as we invite our neighbors to vote! On Saturday, September 24th, we'll go out in diverse groups of 2-3 people to knock on doors of folks who rarely vote. We'll start at 9am with a training on how to share your story and hold "sacred conversations" with your neighbors. It's truly a sacred experience to reach out to your neighbors and say, "We see you. Your voice matters. Join us and vote!" This canvass is sponsored by St. Luke Community United Methodist Church.
Please RSVP below so we can make a packet for you!
This canvass is part of the "Together We Vote" campaign of Faith in Texas. Our congregations have pledged to hold over 10,000 sacred conversations to invite people to vote, both this Fall and in the next round of local elections. Faith in Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that organizes local congregations for the common good. This is a nonpartisan event, open to people of all faith traditions who care about bringing new voices into the public square.
Please wear a hat and comfortable shoes. If you have a smartphone, please bring it fully charged. You'll have the option to download an app to help you knock on doors. Paper lists and ipods will be available for you to use if you don't have a smartphone. If you a deputy voter registrar in Dallas County, please bring your materials with you.
We encourage you to invite friends, family, and members of your faith community to join you! We also encourage everyone to reach out to people and congregations from different racial, ethnic, or faith backgrounds to walk with them. Door-knocking is a fun activity to bring along tweens and teens. Just make sure to RSVP your guests so we can prepare enough materials for everyone!
